Color

We loved living in Florida for 5 years…really, we did. Day trips to the beach were very nice. But…

this I missed. If given the choice…mountains or beach? It’s always mountains for me.

And, day trips to the mountains make me a happy girl. We ventured over to Sugar Mountain, in Banner Elk for their annual Oktoberfest. Food, vendors, music, beer. We avoided that last one. What we really went for was the chair lift rides up the mountain. What better way to view all the gorgeous Fall COLOR…

Almost to the top

We spent some time on the top of the mountain…

And, suddenly we were right on a rocky edge. I stayed away from the edge. Heights aren’t my thing, but the chair lift didn’t bother me too much.

The big kids, however, aren’t phased at all by heights and climbed with wild abandon. I tried not to watch.

These are great shots of you fabulous mountain trip! How great is it that you’re only 2 hours away?! Love the one that Randy took of the red berries with the colorful mountains in the background! Looks like all of you had a great day! Weather was perfect…crisp & clear!

Your dad & I looked at this together, and after we read “beach vs. mountains”, I said, “She’s our daughter!” Welcome back to BEAUTIFUL NC ~

Loved, loved, loved the pictures of the beautiful mountains. I’m with Donna though in that I don’t like heights. I’m not sure I would have made it on that lift. It’s not being up high that bothers me so much as looking down when there’s nothing to hold on to. At the Grand Canyon, I didn’t have a problem as long as there was a railing to stand behind or hold on to. My favorite picture was of the 6 kids, backs to the camera, looking out over God’s beautiful earth.

Love the picture of you and Randy! Sweet!

I know what you mean about the cool air and the mountains. Their my first choice, too. Have a blast enjoying them in the future. I’ll continue to dream….

Okay… beach vs mountains???? Can’t I just love them BOTH? Having just got back from the beach and catching about 150 fish in 2 1/2 days.. I love the beach. But seeing the colors of God’s beautiful NC mountains makes me want to go there, too. Paul loves the beach better. I loved the shots of all of you and each of you. The one of you and Randy is great ! I remember when we used to take Randy and Tony to the mountains and I was a nervous wreck with their wild abandonment with wanting to be on the rocky cliffs right on the edge. I wanted to put leashes on them. I wouldn’t have a problem with the chair lifts as being high up doesn’t bother me, but it’s standing high up on something (like a ladder over the second step, or on a roof) that I freeze and can’t climb down.

I’m with your Mom and Dad in saying “welcome HOME” to OUR beautiful NC.
