Abbey had an “extreme” weekend!

Author: Donna  |  Category: Family

Abbey took another step into the life of a pre-teen when she joined the Jr. High group (6th, 7th, and 8th graders) for a weekend “bible study, teaching, swimming, tubing, etc.” retreat called “Extreme Excursion”. The group went about an hour and a half away, to a campground at Lake Swan. Abbey tells us she had a ball, and has a major sunburn to prove it :) Prior to leaving for the trip, she wasn’t so gung-ho on going…maybe 1/2 excited and 1/2 scared to death. This is the first big trip she’s ever made on her own, and we did lots of praying for her to feel comfortable. We were fortunate that she already knew the adult leaders in her cabin, and they helped her so much! God certainly had His hand on her, and we are very thankful! Welcome home, Abs!

She looks so much older in this picture. I guess not seeing her as much as when she was little, she is growing up right before our eyes. Glad she had a good time.

As I read this and saw that beautiful picture of Abbey, I had a great big grin on my face. Abbey, we’re so proud of you for going and we’re thrilled that you had a good time!! Our prayers were answered, too!! Love ya, “Abbey Girl”…Granma & Granpa

I agree… Abbey is just growing up way too fast. She does look so much more grown up (and sunburned) in this picture. It is sometimes harder on the parents to let their little ones go out into the world than it is on the children themselves. You are doing the right thing by trusting God to watch over Abbey as she is beginning to try her wings out in the world with other kids. Just tell her that “no matter how much she grows up… she will still be our ‘Abbey girl.’
