8 Things About Us

Author: Donna  |  Category: Family

Ruth at http://imagineannalynn.blogspot.com/ had this “tag” on her site, and it looked like fun. So, Randy and I split it up, and each did 4.

Donna –

1. I decided when I was 9 that I wanted to work with hearing impaired children. I ended up being a Speech Pathologist and several of my patients were indeed, hearing impaired. I learned basic sign language and cued speech…and still remember a little of both :)

2. I was a little league baseball queen at age 9 (it was a good year).

3. I hate coffee. Smells great, but tastes awful. I’m a hot tea drinker!

4. I went to college at UNC at Chapel Hill. During my last year, I decided on a whim to try out for the dance team. I ended up making the High Kicking Heels team, and it absolutely made my Senior year.

Randy –

1. I love to play basketball and once had to guard a guy that was 7’6″. I was not effective.

2. A favorite childhood past time with my brother was shooting bottle rockets at each other, using trashcan lids as shields. Remember, the lids back then were metal!

3. I got pulled by the police for driving to school with my friend on the roof of my car…and the cop was mad at me!

4. I love taking nature pictures, especially pictures of palm trees. Being in Florida, I’ve got plenty of subjects.

Feel free to call yourself “tagged!” and let me know if you add this to our blog or website!

9 was a good year for you! Your sign language will come in handy with Lainey! We taught Annalynn some sign and she still uses it along with the words she’s learned.
These are fun ways to learn more about each other!

You took me down Memory Lane, Donna! Yes, a cute ball queen at age 9 at which you also decided to become a Speech Pathologist. Coffee smells good to me, too at the grocery aisle, but I don’t like the taste! High Kicking Heels…I just took that picture to work to show some of the other teachers how cute you looked in your uniform!! Now Randy…you & Tony shooting bottle rockets at each other??!! Yes, I remember when the lids were metal..a plastic lid would not have helped you!! Driving a friend on the roof of your car??!! Was that in Apex High School or At NC State University?!!! You’re TOO MUCH!! Actually my favorite subjects to take pictures of are my 4 pretty and handsome grandkids!! Mom

I am an AVID hot tea drinker too! (SEE? We’re long lost sisters! LOL!)

And Randy- I can’t believe you had a friend riding on the hood of your car! AHHHHHHH!!!!!

Randy, This is your Mom… a friend riding on the top of the car????? I knew about the “games” with your brother, but not the car episode !!! What ever were you thinking? (which of your crazy friends was it?) Sometimes I wonder how Mothers ever – ever raise boys. Donna is beginning to understand that with Ethan and Payton. Girls might squeal, but boys have no sense of danger and/or getting hurt. But I wouldn’t trade you or Tony for any other kids. You both were and are my heart.

I don’t drink much coffee, but like it okay. Hate all tea except a tea mixture I make with Tang, lemonade, a little tea, sugar and spices. Just give me Coke and I am happy.

I think it was that little athletic “high kicker” at UNC that my son fell head over heels in love with and would ride his bike from Raleigh to UNC just to see her. I’m glad he did because now I have Abbey, Marley, Payton and Ethan as grandkids and will have Lainey, too !!!

This is Randy . . . 20 years later and I am STILL catching flack because of my goofball friend. Mom, you remember Tom, right? I’m driving down the road with that nutcase in the passenger seat and the next thing I know he goes climbing out of the window onto the roof. I was running late for school (there’s a surprise), so what was I supposed to do . . . stop? I was just glad he didn’t scratch the paint.

  7. GramStegall Says:

Yes, I do remember Tom and how “crazy” he was. It doesn’t surprise me that he was the culprit. You ???? late for school – NEVER !!! LOL He was probably one of the culprits in with you on “rolling” that house one night. Right??
