Good news

Dylan had a follow-up visit yesterday with the pediatric orthopedist who casted him.  They took another x-ray and everything is lined up just like they want it.

They scheduled him for cast removal on 1/26…THREE weeks.  I can’t believe it…that x-ray didn’t show any healing that I could see, but these guys are the best so I guess they know what they’re talking about.

In the meantime, Dylan is doing better and better everyday.  He’s becoming more active…actually flipped himself over on our bed tonight.  He spends his days in his bean bag chair (awesome idea from another BTDT mom!), in the Ergo carrier with mama, or just sitting on the floor with one of us for back support.  He fits in his booster seat at the kitchen table (but not the highchair!), and is doing fine in his car seat (that’s a tight squeeze, but thankfully works).  He’s sleeping well most nights, and mama is excited to not have to wake up as often during the night for pain meds…yawn.

In other news, Abbey started Drivers Ed on Wednesday.  The class is held at the local high school, and when I dropped her off for her first day it felt really strange.  After 2 days, she’s even more firm in her decision to continue being homeschooled.  I know high school has changed a lot since I went….those kids looked scary!  :)

So, what else?  Marley enjoyed getting back into horseriding today, sporting her new riding pants she loves.  Payton and Ethan are lamenting the starting of school, as usual.  Well, mostly Ethan.  And, Lainey is still working out the kinks of not being the baby anymore.

Life is anything but boring around here.

Whew!! So relieved to see that little bit of a smile on Dylan’s face…glad he’s feeling better each day…our prayers are being answered!! That is a very good idea about the bean bag chair…comfortable and relaxing for him. All of this is definitely GOOD NEWS!!

I told Marley that the first time we took her to horse riding lessons, I took several pictures of her with her horse, and there’s one that turned out fantastic…I’m waiting for prints from Walmart! So, the boys are having a tough time getting back to the books, huh? Well, it won’t be toooo long (HA) till May or June when school will be out for summer break…hang in there, Ethan & Payton (We ALL had to go thru school in our lives…and eventually, after working about 38 years, you can retire like me!! =) Awww Lainey, you’re the sweet BIG sister…that’s a really cool thing!! And last, but NOT least, Abbey…drivers ed???!! Say it isn’t so!!! You were a little toddler not too long ago!! =) So, you’re not interested in going to high school, huh? I’m sure it’s changed drastically since we, or even your mom went!! I wouldn’t want to be sitting in class with a scarey-looking student, either! (Must be creepy!!)

Keep up the good healing, D-Man…we sure are proud of you…as we are the rest of you!! Love ya!!!

I too am glad to see a smile on Dylan’s face. The pants actually look comfortable on him. He will be “breakdancing” on the floor before you know it.

I’m not ready to think about Abbey (or Gabe) being ready for driver’s ed. Grands are all growing up way too fast.

Tell Abbey that there are a lot of benefits in being homeschooled… not just the benefit of not being around scarey kids. LOL

    love to all
