Christmas Questions!<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>* D: Donna R: Randy<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.\u00c2\u00a0Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?\u00c2\u00a0<strong><em>D: Hot Chocolate R: What\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s wrong with Mountain Dew?<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n2.\u00c2\u00a0Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?\u00c2\u00a0<strong><em><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\">D: We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve never given gifts from Santa. The kids have always known he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s pretend! R: True \u00e2\u20ac\u201c But we still normally put a few presents out where the kids can see \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcem.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n3.\u00c2\u00a0Colored lights on tree\/house or white?\u00c2\u00a0<strong><em><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\">D: Colored lights on indoor trees, white on garland and wreath at the front door. R: Red and White lights on my N.C. State Tree, colored lights on the live indoor tree, white lights on the outdoor wreath and garland around the door, and colored lights on the drake elm outside. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve got a little Griswald in me.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n4.\u00c2\u00a0Do you hang mistletoe?\u00c2\u00a0<strong><em>D: NO R: What she said.<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n5.\u00c2\u00a0When do you put your decorations up?\u00c2\u00a0<strong><em>D: A day or 2 after Thanksgiving. R: . . . is when we start, and then we normally finish a day or 2 before Christmas. Again, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the Griswald in me.<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n6.\u00c2\u00a0What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?\u00c2\u00a0<strong><em>D: Sweet Potato Casserole! R: Pecan Pie. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not dessert if you eat it first.<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n7.\u00c2\u00a0Favorite Holiday memory as a child:<strong><em>\u00c2\u00a0D: More like \u00e2\u20ac\u0153funny memory\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6seeing the bicycle under the tree and thinking \u00e2\u20ac\u0153oh no, I have to learn to ride that thing.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d R: My brother and I waking up before daybreak, yelling down the hall to our parents, and playing a riveting game of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153can we get up yet?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d for about an hour.<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n8.\u00c2\u00a0When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?\u00c2\u00a0<strong><em>D: I have no memory of that! R: I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t either . . . pretty sure my older brother had something to do with it, tho.<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n9.\u00c2\u00a0Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?\u00c2\u00a0<strong><em>D: When I was a kid, mom would let me open 1 present on Christmas eve! R: Sometimes D &amp; I will open one or so the night before, but we always make the kids wait.<\/em><\/strong><strong><em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>10\u00c2\u00a0How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?\u00c2\u00a0<strong><em>D: Randy does the lights, then the kids gather around me and I give them ornaments to hang. R: Check . . . except for some particularly special ones that we hang up high to make sure they don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t get broken &#8211; ornaments from our trees as children, from my grandparent\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s tree, etc.<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n11.\u00c2\u00a0Snow! Love it or Dread it?\u00c2\u00a0<strong><em>D: Love it, but never see it! (Florida!) R: I love it, too. Looks VERY pretty on T.V.<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n12.\u00c2\u00a0Can you ice skate?\u00c2\u00a0<strong><em>D: Tried to once\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6did okay. R: I can rollerblade. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve heard it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s similar.<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n13.\u00c2\u00a0What\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the most important thing about the Holidays for you?\u00c2\u00a0<strong><em>D: Doing all those traditions with the kids\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6like, baking the SAME cookies that I did with my mom. R: And obviously doing everything we can to keep ourselves and our kids focused on why we celebrate Christmas and why Jesus came to Earth in the form of a baby.<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n14.\u00c2\u00a0What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?\u00c2\u00a0<strong><em>D: My Grandmom\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s chocolate pie R: Hmm\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6already ate the Pecan Pie for dinner, so I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll have some of my mom\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s raisin nut log for dessert.<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n15.\u00c2\u00a0What is your favorite holiday tradition?\u00c2\u00a0<strong><em>D: Taking a picture of the kids as they each hang their \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Baby\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s First Christmas\u00e2\u20ac\u009d ornaments. And, reading an advent book each night with the kids. R: I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll agree with Donna on the advent book (we read Jotham\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Journey, then Tabitha\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Travels, and are working on Bartholomew\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Passage this year). We loved doing a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Walk through Bethlehem\u00e2\u20ac\u009d at my dad\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s church in N.C. (the kids loved seeing my dad as a wise man), but we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve missed that since moving.<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n16.\u00c2\u00a0Which do you prefer giving or receiving?\u00c2\u00a0<strong><em>D: Giving\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6love to see the person\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s face as they open the box! R: Giving. Especially if it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s something the person didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t specifically ask for, but you know they are going to love it.<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n17.\u00c2\u00a0What\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s your favorite Christmas Song?\u00c2\u00a0<strong><em>D: Joy to the World! R: Hmm\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6I like Away in a Manager. I always picture my Abbey-girl singing it at the top of her lungs when she was 5.<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n18.\u00c2\u00a0Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum? \u00c2\u00a0<strong><em>D: As long as it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a non-traditional flavor (Jellybelly!), then I love \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcem.
