{"id":649,"date":"2009-10-02T22:28:09","date_gmt":"2009-10-03T02:28:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.handsful.com\/?p=649"},"modified":"2009-10-02T22:33:28","modified_gmt":"2009-10-03T02:33:28","slug":"19-months-and-14-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.handsful.com\/wordpress\/archives\/649","title":{"rendered":"19 months and 14 days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"null\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2634\/3975653584_c88a0d1406.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lainey, do you know what today is??<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"null\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3475\/3976060930_3d0be5211b_o.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lainey lived here, in this room (her crib is the one closest to the door) for the first 19 months and 14 days of her life.\u00c2\u00a0 Exactly 19 months and 14 days.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"null\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2640\/3976063530_e57bac707f.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We have very few pictures of her life in the orphanage, and she&#8217;s only slightly smiling in one of them.\u00c2\u00a0 Here, she&#8217;s definitely not a happy camper.\u00c2\u00a0 (Her face still does that pitiful little scrunch-up when she cries.)<\/p>\n<p>Today marks Lainey&#8217;s 19th month, 14th day with US.\u00c2\u00a0 Get it?\u00c2\u00a0 She&#8217;s been with us for the same length of time that she was in the orphanage.\u00c2\u00a0 Which means tomorrow is the &#8220;longer here than there&#8221; day (as a fellow\u00c2\u00a0adoptive mom called it).\u00c2\u00a0 Many adoptive parents have told me that this\u00c2\u00a0was a turning point for their child.\u00c2\u00a0 Their children visibly changed, became more relaxed, attached.\u00c2\u00a0 Somehow sensing that they\u00c2\u00a0were truly home.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"null\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3435\/3975653788_af50cf8772.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"332\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yes, Lainey, this is your home.\u00c2\u00a0 Forever and ever.\u00c2\u00a0 We cannot even begin to imagine our lives without you.\u00c2\u00a0 You bring us such joy and laughter&#8230;just like our other children were born to us, you were meant to be ours.\u00c2\u00a0 We&#8217;re sorry it took us so long to find you.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"null\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2612\/3974890053_9ca350ac7f.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll never know about your family in China.\u00c2\u00a0 But, your Forever Family is big!\u00c2\u00a0 You have 2 brothers and 2 sisters who love you dearly.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"null\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3463\/3974889933_cfcd8599d8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"332\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"null\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3432\/3974889881_b3069afc08.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"332\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"null\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2505\/3975368853_2e5e4be579.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"null\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Happy 19 months and 14 days, Lainey!\u00c2\u00a0 We love you.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lainey, do you know what today is??
