{"id":1642,"date":"2011-04-26T16:59:31","date_gmt":"2011-04-26T20:59:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.handsful.com\/?p=1642"},"modified":"2011-04-27T10:02:18","modified_gmt":"2011-04-27T14:02:18","slug":"dylan-surgery-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.handsful.com\/wordpress\/archives\/1642","title":{"rendered":"Dylan &#8211; surgery day *pics added*"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"flickr-image aligncenter\" title=\"DSC_2508\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/70803758@N00\/5661380758\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5025\/5661380758_0c17ea681f.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_2508\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Morning of surgery, snuggling with his panda pillow (thanks, Sandi, he LOVES it&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>While Randy feeds Dylan his dinner, I&#8217;m sitting in a lovely, open area with an indoor waterfall behind me, catching everyone up on Dylan&#8217;s day.<\/p>\n<p>Surgery was scheduled for 10:45, so we arrived at 9am. \u00c2\u00a0Dylan was in good spirits, until we put his gown on him. \u00c2\u00a0He got kinda quiet at that point, wondering what was going on. \u00c2\u00a0We could still make him laugh, though.<\/p>\n<p>He took us loopy medicine, but only got wobbly. \u00c2\u00a0No funny stories to tell&#8230;rats. \u00c2\u00a0As a reward for taking the medicine (which we&#8217;ve heard tastes just yucky), the nurse wheeled in this huge wagon and told him to choose a toy. \u00c2\u00a0It looked like Christmas in that wagon! \u00c2\u00a0He chose a doctor kit, that he&#8217;s already gotten a lot of use out of. \u00c2\u00a0He gave every nurse and doctor that came in a shot!<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"flickr-image aligncenter\" title=\"DSC_2523\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/70803758@N00\/5661381356\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5103\/5661381356_ab42ac32b7.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_2523\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The time came to wheel him away. \u00c2\u00a0Randy said a prayer over him, I kissed his little foot, and off he went. \u00c2\u00a0I managed to hold my tears in.<\/p>\n<p>We were told it would take 1 1\/2 hours, so we went to the waiting room and then grabbed lunch from the cafeteria and brought it back. \u00c2\u00a0Only about 40min into it, the surgeon walks in. \u00c2\u00a0Huh? \u00c2\u00a0It was a breeze, no complications, easy-peasy. \u00c2\u00a0 We were thrilled to hear that he&#8217;d done so well.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"flickr-image aligncenter\" title=\"DSC_2530\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/70803758@N00\/5661381910\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5227\/5661381910_5d3ecb5d5d.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_2530\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>feeding him ice chips<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s been awake all day, transitioning from ice chips to juice to crackers and now to dinner. \u00c2\u00a0He&#8217;s literally eating and drinking as much as we give him. \u00c2\u00a0And, wearing out the portable urinal. \u00c2\u00a0Maybe this will push him over the 27lb mark? \u00c2\u00a0Yes, that&#8217;s STILL what he weighed yesterday at his pre-op appt.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re told that, if he continues to do well, he&#8217;ll be discharged tomorrow. \u00c2\u00a0Great news! \u00c2\u00a0He&#8217;s beginning to have some pain in his leg, but they&#8217;re giving him medicine. \u00c2\u00a0After dinner, he gets to leave the bed and we&#8217;ll pull him around in the wagon.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"flickr-image aligncenter\" title=\"DSC_2539\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/70803758@N00\/5660814323\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5228\/5660814323_603e98b6f3.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_2539\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"flickr-image aligncenter\" title=\"DSC_2549\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/70803758@N00\/5661402448\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5061\/5661402448_ae2192c00e.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_2549\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>* added next day&#8230;after our walk, he decided to hang out in the wagon and watch a movie. \u00c2\u00a0Looks like a great set-up, huh?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Morning of surgery, snuggling with his panda pillow (thanks, Sandi, he LOVES it&#8230;) While Randy feeds Dylan his dinner, I&#8217;m sitting in a lovely, open area with an indoor waterfall behind me, catching everyone up on Dylan&#8217;s day.
