Lainey has been asking for quite some time (with encouragement from her siblings) to have her ears pierced.\u00c2\u00a0 Since Marley was 4 when she had hers done, I wanted to wait till Lainey’s birthday.\u00c2\u00a0 Well, we were at the mall last Friday and figured a week early would work :)\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

We told her it would hurt a little, so she was aware.\u00c2\u00a0 She said “okay” without any obvious concern.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

Waiting…Payton let her watch a cartoon for distraction.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

We went to one place, and there was another little girl having hers done.\u00c2\u00a0 The kids said “Quick!\u00c2\u00a0 Get her out of here so she doesn’t hear that girl scream!!”.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0The lady working there didn’t give me warm fuzzies anyway, so\u00c2\u00a0we found another place.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

Randy held her hands, while I manned the camera.\u00c2\u00a0 This was maybe a second before the dreaded “ka-click” sound.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

Did she scream?\u00c2\u00a0 Cry?\u00c2\u00a0 Whimper?\u00c2\u00a0 No.\u00c2\u00a0 Nothing.\u00c2\u00a0 The girl didn’t blink.\u00c2\u00a0 Didn’t flinch.\u00c2\u00a0 Randy said her hands didn’t even jump as he held them.\u00c2\u00a0 She’s a rock, our Lainey.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

As hard as I campaigned for the little diamond-like ones, she chose the blue :)<\/p>\n

We did have some drama the NEXT day.\u00c2\u00a0 We were sitting down to lunch after church and Lainey came up to me.\u00c2\u00a0 She motioned to her right ear and there was NO earring.\u00c2\u00a0 Yikes!\u00c2\u00a0 We did a quick search and found it.\u00c2\u00a0 Then, spent the next 15 years<\/span> minutes trying to get it put back in.\u00c2\u00a0 It would go in about 3\/4 of the way and then didn’t budge.\u00c2\u00a0 We called the store and they said to aim it at the back hole (which was extremely hard to see!) and push fairly hard.\u00c2\u00a0 So, after Randy and I each took turns trying, Randy managed to get it through.\u00c2\u00a0 There were definite tears this time around, but she was so brave to let us work on her so long.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

One part was funny, though.\u00c2\u00a0 I’m in desperate need of an appointment with an eye doctor.\u00c2\u00a0 My close up vision is quickly going down hill, so when it was my turn, Randy stuck his reading glasses on me!\u00c2\u00a0 Ah, growing older is such fun.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
