{"id":1101,"date":"2010-06-15T13:53:50","date_gmt":"2010-06-15T17:53:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.handsful.com\/?p=1101"},"modified":"2010-06-15T17:56:44","modified_gmt":"2010-06-15T21:56:44","slug":"grandmom-b","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.handsful.com\/wordpress\/archives\/1101","title":{"rendered":"Grandmom B"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"null\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1289\/4703761450_826fe7318a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"430\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This morning I got the call that my grandmother in NJ passed away.\u00c2\u00a0 She had been sick for almost a month, enduring at least 2 heart attacks and a stroke.\u00c2\u00a0 Her body had had enough, and she let go.\u00c2\u00a0 She was 89 years old.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The last time I saw my grandmother was in 2006, when we all flew up to NJ for her 85th birthday.\u00c2\u00a0 The picture above is when she came down to NC in 1998, to see the triplets after they were born.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Since I&#8217;ve not seen her very much in my adult years, most of my memories of her are from my childhood.\u00c2\u00a0 Specifically during the summers that my mom and I would spend a week in NJ with her.\u00c2\u00a0 Spending a week in her huge house (it seemed huge to me), and always going to the NJ shore, were highlights of my summers.\u00c2\u00a0 She&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>* loved my southern accent and showed it off to her friends<\/p>\n<p>* had a room in her house full of plants and a 2-way radio that my cousin and I would play with, talking to &#8220;unknown&#8221; people.\u00c2\u00a0 We felt very mysterious.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>* made the most amazing display of Christmas cookies you&#8217;ve ever seen.\u00c2\u00a0 The ones with the silver ball sprinkles looked too pretty to eat.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>* had old copies of Miss America books that I would pour over.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>* took us to the beach everytime we visited.\u00c2\u00a0 I loved walking with her as she used her metal detector.\u00c2\u00a0 At the end of the day, we&#8217;d change out of our bathing suits\u00c2\u00a0under the\u00c2\u00a0Ocean City boardwalk.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>* lived in an old neighborhood (this was the house my mom grew up in), and we could walk around the corner to Del-Buono&#8217;s bakery.\u00c2\u00a0 I can almost smell it now.\u00c2\u00a0 If you&#8217;re ever in Haddon Heights, check it out.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>* had a crazy, loud laugh and was always joking around.\u00c2\u00a0 She seemed to always have the attitude that troubles were just &#8220;water off a duck&#8217;s back&#8221; to her.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s how I remember her.\u00c2\u00a0 And, always will.\u00c2\u00a0 Goodbye Grandmom B.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This morning I got the call that my grandmother in NJ passed away.\u00c2\u00a0 She had been sick for almost a month, enduring at least 2 heart attacks and a stroke.\u00c2\u00a0 Her body had had enough, and she let go.\u00c2\u00a0 She was 89 years old.\u00c2\u00a0 The last time I saw my grandmother was in 2006, when [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1101","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-family"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.handsful.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1101","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.handsful.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.handsful.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.handsful.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.handsful.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1101"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.handsful.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1101\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.handsful.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1101"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.handsful.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1101"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.handsful.com\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1101"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
